The Mss Board
of Directors consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary,
Treasurer, and a Director of Publications & Membership. Each
position handles certain club responsibilities, some of which are
handled directly and others which are delegated to other members. The
Board is responsible for running the monthly meetings, planning events,
publishing the newsletter, tracking membership, and addressing any
issues that may come up concerning the club.
Members of the Board are elected annually by
secret ballot votes of full MSS club members. Candidates are first
nominated be fellow members and only full MSS members have voting
privileges. Once the votes are tallied, the top five become the new
board. There is no term limitations so Board members have the
opportunity for re-election. All MSS Board members must also be members
of the NSS. The transition from old Board to the new Board takes place
at the annual MSS Cornfeed event.
The Board
meets regularly to discuss current issues for the club, to promote
apprentice members to full-voting status, and to address any club
business may come up at regular MSS meetings.
Problems
with members, concerns about conservation, or any other issue
concerning the club should be directed to the Board for an official
response. Also, new membership applications or renewals can be handled
through the Board to insure the information is processed properly.
