What is the
Minnesota Speleological
Survey ?
The MSS is an organization dedicated to the study,
exploration, and
conservation of caves.
It is open to anyone interested in caves.
The membership of the MSS is made up of cave
explores,
conservationists, cave owners, and cave scientists -
all
sharing a mutual interest in caves.
- Conservation
-Promoting cave protection.
- Science - Cave
related study.
- Safety -
Promoting safe caving.
- Commercialization
- Assisting cave owners.
Our group is actually the Minnesota grotto,
or local affiliate of the
National Speleological Society.
This affiliation means that we are a formal club governed by
a Board of Directors and that we abide by written bylaws
that define the club and certain club procedures.
